What did Ronaldo tells Man United at Yesterday’s meeting?

The renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared his insight into the Man Utd meeting involving CR7, Jorge Mendes, Erik ten Hag, and the board.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United reached an impasse after a day of talks, according to  Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

On Tuesday, Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, arrived at United’s Carrington training base. They confirmed their intention to seek a transfer to the board and Erik ten Hag. Both club and manager, however, insisted to CR7 that he is not for sale and remains part of their plans.

Ronaldo’s former coach Sir Alex Ferguson, United CEO Richard Arnold, ex-chief executive David Gill, and one-time Red Devils captain Bryan Robson were also seen at Carrington – although United have not revealed the extent to which they were involved in these talks.

What did Ronaldo tell Man Utd?

In a YouTube video,  Romano shared to his followers what he heard went down between Ronaldo and United.

“I’m told in this meeting that Cristiano confirmed he wants to leave the club,” The Italian said.

“This was also the message from Jorge Mendes, who will try to bring a good proposal to Manchester United. They confirmed on Ronaldo’s side their intention to explore the market again to find a solution.”

Ten Hag is determined to keep CR7

Romano continued: “But I’m told that the Manchester United side, Erik ten Hag especially, has been really clear. Erik ten Hag told Cristiano about the project, about the idea of trusting him as the face of the Manchester United team for this new style.

“Erik ten Hag is trying in every way to change his mind and, in this conversation, Man United confirmed again they consider Cristiano not for sale. They want to keep him. So the message coming from Manchester United on Tuesday night is very clear: ‘Cristiano is part of the project, we want him to be an important player for our team in the new season.’”

“They don’t want to sell Ronaldo and they were really clear in this meeting. Jorge Mendes will try again.”

Romano added: “It’s not going to be an easy one, but Mendes is going to push and try until the end.”

“Erik ten Hag is really fighting for this one, and the fact of having Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester is a message for Ten Hag: There is a conversation. There is room for Mendes and Cristiano to discuss with Ten Hag, and maybe find a way.”

Ronaldo, who is yet to join the team in active football drills, is unlikely to play this weekend. United have two friendlies coming up. They first face Atletico Madrid in Oslo this Saturday. Rayo Vallecano will then visit Ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford for one last friendly on Sunday.
